Cat spaying & neutering...

Most cats that are kept for companionship are spayed or neutered. This is a common practice to prevent unacceptable sexual behavior, reduce aggressiveness and prevent accidental or indiscriminate breeding.

Cats who are not spayed or neutered tend to roam, fight with other cats, spray, strongly attracted to cats of the opposite sex, and their urine can be particularly odorous. Overall, the intact male and female can make a most unpleasant household companion.

The most obvious benefit to spaying is the prevention of unplanned pregnancies. This also prevents the behavior, of loud crying, frequent rubbing, and rolling on the floor. This behavior, coupled with her scent, attracts male cats from miles around. Other medical benefits are the elimination of ovarian, uterine, and breast cancers.

Population control is a benefit to neutering your male cat. Millions of cats are destroyed across North America each year because there are far more cats born than homes available. Neutering also reduces aggression between males. Spraying is eliminated in about 85% of male cats.

Spaying or neutering your cat is a surgical procedure. We are trained in the latest techniques to keep your pet as safe and comfortable as possible through the surgical process, and keep recovery times to a minimum. Spaying and neutering does not cause a change in your pets personality, guarding instincts, intelligence, playfulness or affection.
